The purpose of this document is to provide best practices for powering Agentforce with unstructured data (fi les) and long free-text fi elds on structured objects. The Salesforce Platform off ers a collection of integrated tools to set up and implement retrieval augmented generation (RAG)-powered solutions. RAG ensures that agent responses are more accurate, up to date, and relevant with respect to a company’s enterprise knowledge1. Some of these tools are straightforward and out of the box. Some allow granular confi guration for additional control over the solution’s behavior. In all cases, however, implementers are required to make choices about solution architecture and design. The purpose of this document is to guide the Salesforce admin or developer in making these design choices in the best way given their requirements.
